Functional Testing

Functional Laboratory Testing

Functional testing involves using specific laboratory tests aimed at evaluating the health status of an individual by measuring how the body is functioning rather than focusing only on symptoms, which is what a general health practitioners will often do.  This often leads to reoccurring symptoms as the root cause is not being investigated and this is how most chronic conditions develop.  Prevention is always better than cure and functional testing plays a fundamental role in facilitating this.

Testing can be invaluable in helping to identify how specific systems of the body are functioning to help identify the root cause of symptoms. This is particularly important in chronic disease and long-term symptoms where there might be multiple systems of the body under stress.

Functional testing can aid faster healing outcomes as they effectively cut out the guesswork and the nutrition and lifestyle plans can be even more targeted based on the test results and to address any specific nutritional requirements.

Functional testing can involve a breath, blood, saliva, hair, urine or a stool sample. The majority of the tests can be  delivered to and collected from your home but occasionally may involve attending a laboratory tor a local phlebotomist  to provide blood samples.
